Update: Man injured in 3-car crash back on Dec. 11 passes away from his injuries after long hospital stay

The crash happened back on Dec. 11, and one of the injured men passed away after a long hospital stay from his injuries.

MACON, Ga. — Update, 6:10 p.m. December 23:

Coroner Leon Jones says that a second person has died after a wreck on Mercer University Drive near Summer Hill Drive.

He says 27-year-old Philemon Freeman of Macon died on Saturday in the hospital of a head trauma he got in the crash.

A woman is dead and four others are injured after a crash on Mercer University Drive near Summer Hill Drive, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

They say it happened just after 6:00 p.m. Monday evening.

A silver sedan, a gray sedan and a red pickup truck got into a crash, leaving one woman dead, the press release said.

On Friday evening, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said that 25-year-old Yeshaya Chantea Dubose was killed. Her next of kin was notified by Deputy Coroner Richard Robinson.

In a press release, the sheriff's office says a 2022 Hyundai Accent was traveling west on Mercer University Drive, but it crossed the center median. Then, a 2022 Honda Civic and a 2009 Ford F-150 traveling east hit the Hyundai Accent.

Two of the injured people were in the Accent, which Dubose was driving. One passenger is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.

The two other motorists — a 60-year-old male and a 75-year-old female — are in stable condition.

This is a developing story. We will provide updates as they become available.

Correction: The original press release stated that two other motorists and three passengers were injured. In the most recent press release, the number of injuries was updated from five to four. This story's text and headline were updated to reflect that.
