NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Singer Little Richard, a self-proclaimed architect of rock 'n' roll, was involved in a car accident in Tennessee, but police said there were no injuries.

According to a police report, the 81-year-old singer was a passenger in a Cadillac that was struck by another vehicle on Monday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, about 40 miles southeast of Nashville. The Daily News Journal reported both vehicles sustained major damage and the driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to yield.

Born Richard Penniman, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was known for pounding on his piano and his piercing wail on songs like "Tutti Frutti," and "Long Tall Sally." The trailblazing rocker, who lives in Tennessee, helped to shatter the color line on the music charts.
