Husband killed, wife in serious condition after Putnam County accident

EATONTON, Ga. — A Greene County man died Thursday afternoon in an accident and his wife had to be airlifted from the scene.

According to Putnam County Chief Deputy Col. Russell Blenk, the sheriff’s office received a call about a wreck around 4:25 p.m. Thursday on GA-16 at Pea Ridge Road.

Blenk says 68-year-old Charles Bailey was going east on his 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle and his wife Rita was a passenger.

Their investigation shows Bailey was turning left when he ran into the right side of a Chevy Tahoe driven by Caed Wooten.

Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife Rita was medivaced from the scene to the Medical Center, Navicent Health in ‘serious condition.’

No charges have been filed yet, but the accident remains under investigation.
