MACON, Ga. — A case of the new coronavirus, COVID-19, has not been reported in Central Georgia, but the Macon-Bibb Transit Authority says they are taking precaution.
Penelope Goodman, a regular MTA bus rider says, "It kind of scared me, but I mean, worrying that it might end up here."
After every ride, drivers clean their buses with Clorox wipes, and wear blue surgical gloves behind the steering wheels.
They will also carry hand sanitizer and wipes on buses. Riders appreciate the transit authority playing it safe.
"I think it's a great effort to keep the world safe and the people safe," says Robert Williams.
Goodman says, "It's a great way of making sure that all the riders, pedestrians, and just public transportation making sure that we're all safe."
On the way to destinations, riders can look over posters inside buses to encourage good health practices like washing your hands and covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing.
"I think it's real helpful because if people have the information and everything, then they'll make sure they use the information," says Goodman.
