Tammy Norton and 40 of her friends started 'Got Party Got Purpose' a year and a half ago after going to a town hall meeting.
They realized how many people in Houston County were in need and are unaware of the resources available to them.
"We decided that once a month, we would get together and do something about it," Norton said.
This month, they are donating two bags full of feminine hygiene products to every middle and high school in Houston County.
"Some young woman at school, whether she's underprivileged or not, has a need in that moment for something and she's going to have the ability to get what she needs to carry her through that day," Norton said.
Norton said their parties happen once a month and they pick a project for donations.
"It kind of gave our parties a reason to happen," she said.
Norton says some of the upcoming parties will include donating books to schools and packing birthday boxes full of balloons and cake mix for children in foster care.
Norton's house is the unofficial headquarters. She said people often coming in and out to put things on the "share shelf." The shelf is full of items collected for future projects.
"You take so many things for granted, you know, what else can you do, what else should we be doing and it just kind of ballooned and rolled over from there," Norton said.
Last year, the group donated the products anonymously.
This year, they attached their name so the schools can reach out when they run out of products and need more.
"It's empowering on a level that once you see a need and you fill that need. It's kind of like, it awakens you in a way. You're more aware of what's going on around you," she said.
Norton said if you know of a group in need or want to help, you can reach Got Party Got Purpose on Facebook.
