They say 57-year-old Caryn Whitaker was lying in the southbound lane on Boy Scout Road when she was hit and killed.

GSP has identified the driver as 33-year-old Amanda Dawn Parker of Byron. No charges have been filed against her at this time.

They say a witness, traveling northbound, stopped when they saw Whitaker in the road. A passenger with the witness got out to warn traffic.

That's when Parker, traveling southbound, saw the witness and passenger, but was unable to stop before hitting Whitaker.

GSP says they don't know why Whitaker was lying in the road, and a full report has not been completed.
