CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. — Every Saturday since September, Steve Hunt, his business partner, Karry Dunaway, and their wives have had a roadside market to sell meats and other canned goods.
"We just started doing it every Saturday since September, and the community has been fantastic as far as their support and coming by," said Hunt.
On the first weekend in February, that market will officially be a store.
Greenway Farms has been a fixture in Crawford County for almost a decade now, but Hunt says this store will take their business to the next level.
"We had most of those products that you'd have in a grocery store, so it just seemed natural for us once we acquired this property, and it had an existing store on it for us to make that available to the community," he said.
Those products include chemical-free beef, pork, chicken, eggs, jellies and jams.
The animals are raised and items are canned on the two Greenway Farms that take up over 110 acres total.
Cynthia Black is one of the shoppers who appreciates the fresh items the new store will carry.
"Trying to find somewhere local, farm fresh fruits, vegetables, fresh eggs, without all the hormones and things like that is wonderful. It's such a blessing. This place is a godsend," said Black.
Black is one of many customers eager for the store to open.
Hunt says the store will have a soft opening on February 2, and the official ribbon cutting will be within the next few weeks to follow.
For now, they will still have fresh products ready to sell. You can find the store at 6744 Highway 80 in Roberta.
