You can check out the districtwide show featuring 'Icons' 6 p.m. on April 19 at the Dublin High School auditorium.

DUBLIN, Ga. — If you're looking for the icons, look no further than Dublin City Schools.

Students of all ages and grade levels in the district's fine arts departments are rehearsing for the big night featuring "Icons" at its showcase.

When you enter the lobby, students who created art pieces said their work will be laid out and arranged for guests to view.

In the auditorium, music, theater and dance students are performing.

Ahead of the show, everybody's preparing their final touches during their rehearsal time.

The "Icons" show is completely student-led with on-stage performers and behind-the-scenes crew members.

"I do the lights for the show, I do light changes, light transitions, so either that and I'll play in the sound booth playing the tracks for everybody," Miyona Wells said.

Putting together a show for the community that goes all out for them, the students say, is what makes them excited for their "Icons" showcase.

"My favorite part about Dublin is really the community," Miyona said. "I love that they always have so many things for us to do here. That makes it a joy living in a small town."

"It's just a lot of stuff they create for us to have fun in every aspect," Celeana said.

Celeana is a drum major performing with her high school's band. She's also performing a skit with a partner in the showcase.

She's most excited about her friends: Amiria Thomas and Megan Haywood are performing in the show.

"We've been best friends for a long while, but we dance at Fancy Dancer together so that's when we started dancing together around the age of 4 or 5 years old," Amiria said.

"I love how dance lets me get away from school and work and stuff," Megan said. "Like, dance is just something fun, and I just love to dance."

"Everybody else that's in the show, they've been working extremely hard, and we're just excited to put on a show for our community!" Amirya said.
