MACON, Ga. — Summer may still be upon us, but school is right around the corner. While students are soaking up the sun, Bibb County teachers are already preparing for the upcoming school year.
This week, over 270 educators are at Howard High School for New Teacher Orientation. Orientation began Tuesday, July 16, and ends July 18.
The program gets teachers acclimated to Bibb County's education system. They also get prepped on fun ways to engage with their students in their first weeks.
"I'm excited to meet all the students, I'm excited to learn, and I'm excited for them to learn from me," says first-time teacher Chrisjanae Manson. Manson will be teaching Spanish to students at Howard High School.
Teachers will get to explore their respective schools across Bibb County on July 19. After completing orientation, new teachers will also celebrate with a convocation ceremony Thursday, July 25.
As for Bibb County students, school will be back in session August 1.
