Georgia tax-free weekend: What you need to know

Georgia's tax-free weekend is July 31 and August 1. It's a chance for you to save money on back-to-school items. But not everything is tax-free.

Tax exemptions fall into three categories:

1. Clothing (including footwear) with a price of $100.00 or less per item. Jewelry, handbags, umbrellas, eyewear, and watches are not included.

2. Computers with a price of $1,000.00 or less per item. It includes computers, computer components, and software.

3. School supplies with a price of $20.00 or less per item.

The exemption will run from 12:01 a.m. on July 31 through midnight August 1. The state sales tax exemption applies to eligible items bought online or in stores.

Many stores will also sales to coincide with the sale tax weekend. Keep checking back for a list!
