Two Macon women were found dead in their vehicles within a month’s time, and investigators are now saying that both cases are drug-related.
Daniel Shurley, a Bibb County Sheriff Investigator, confirms that both cases are still under investigation.
He also says they found a syringe and a spoon in the car of Blair Chamblee, 25, who was found dead in the parking lot of the Zaxby’s on 910 Riverside Dr. on April 2.
Jessica Moore, 28, was found dead in a pickup truck at the end of Fletcher Street on March 6.
While investigators wait on toxicology results to officially provide a cause of death – which could take several months – Shurley says since no foul-play was suspected that they are not looking into suspects at this time. The two women's bodies were found less than five miles from each other.
Shurley says that drug-related deaths are uncommon in Macon.
We also spoke to the family of Jessica Lynn Moore. Her brother Justin Moore says she was born and raised in Macon. Moore says his sister didn't have any kids, but was between jobs at the time.
He also says she had a drug problem on and off for years and that she had been to rehab a few times.
He says there was a drug house that his sister frequented but that where her body was found was "nowhere she's ever been". He says she just hung around the "wrong crowd".
"It is hard to get clean here in Macon because there are just drugs all around," says Justin Moore.
