A mother in Dekalb County, is mourning the death of her child, killed by a hit-and-run driver. According to authorities, the man responsible for the crash has fled the country.
Dekalb County Police say Concepcion Cruz boarded a flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport heading to El Salvador this past Tuesday. Earlier, officials said his name was on the no-fly list.
Police say Cruz is charged with two counts of felony hit-and-run from the accident on April 5. Officials say the boy was standing outside a Walmart with his mother and sister when they were hit by a white pickup truck.
Dekalb police say the El Salvadoran government and federal authorities are trying to locate Cruz.
