MACON, Ga. — A Macon man is in jail on a murder charge after a woman was shot and killed Sunday.
The woman, 29-year-old Ashley Heberling, was found shot outside her apartment at the Retreat at Ragan Park Apartments around 10 a.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.
That’s off Masseyville Road in east Macon.
Heberling was taken to the hospital where she later died, deputies said.
Later that afternoon, the sheriff’s office asked the public for help in looking for 27-year-old Randy Singleton, Jr., who was wanted in connection with the homicide.
The sheriff’s office said Singleton ended up turning himself in to investigators later that night.
He was interviewed about Heberling’s death, then taken into custody and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
He’s charged with murder and is being held without bond, the sheriff’s office said.
Macon-Bibb County Chief Coroner Leon Jones said this is the 20th homicide for 2020.
Anyone with information can call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
