'This was an assassination' | Deputies believe shooter laid in wait for woman to leave a Baldwin County beauty salon

The shooting happened late Sunday outside a beauty salon.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Georgia — A 25-year-old woman was shot outside a business in Hardwick on Sunday, Baldwin County Sheriff Bill Massee said.

The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. near 370 Allen Memorial Drive. Deputies found 25-year-old Keishonna Mone Todd lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies say they tried to apply pressure to her wounds. Todd was taken to a local hospital where she later was pronounced dead.

Investigators spent yesterday collecting video from cameras in the area and interviewing people. Todd had just finished getting her hair done at the local salon and had been there for several hours.

Major Brad King said they believe the gunman appears to have laid in wait for her to exit the building.

Todd was there with 23-year-old Bryanna Brown. King says Brown was missed by the bullets.

"Our deputies arrived to locate a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. We also had another victim of the shooting that was not injured," King said.

Todd was shot several times and they believe it was a targeted attack.

"It was absolutely personal against her. She was targeted and ambushed so without a doubt this is not a random shooting," Todd said.

"This wasn't a murder, this was an assassination," Massee said.

The GBI assisted detectives in working the crime scene.

Today King says they spent time interviewing Todd's mother.

"We just finished a very long interview with her mother. We also learned she actually resides in Wilkinson County. And we're actually meeting law enforcement from Wilkinson County to get some more background information," he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at (478) 445-4893 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at (478) 870-1166.
