Suspect accused of 9 Facebook Marketplace armed robberies, shooting 3 people arrested: US Marshals

Regi Knight is accused of committing nine armed robberies where he allegedly lured the victims with a Facebook Marketplace ad to buy a car.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A suspect accused of using Facebook Marketplace to lure his victims to a location where he allegedly robs and fires shots at them was arrested on Wednesday, according to law enforcement.

Shortly before 3 p.m. today, Regi Knight was taken into custody on warrants for aggravated assault and armed robbery, the DeKalb County Police Department said.

He is accused of nine armed robberies where he shot at least three people, according to police. He allegedly used multiple ads on Facebook Marketplace for the same car -- a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

The incidents stem back to Thanksgiving night when a South Carolina man reported he was robbed, carjacked and shot at after driving nearly 400 miles to meet the car's seller at a home on Chestnut Hill Circle in Decatur.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office contacted their team to take over the investigation and take Knight into custody.

Law enforcement worked non-stop due to the nature of the crime and the escalation of violence, the U.S. Marshals said.

The agency got a lead in Fulton County Wednesday afternoon and contacted Georgia State Patrol SWAT to assist.

They were able to track him down to an apartment shortly before 3 p.m.

According to law enforcement, Knight was bitten by a police K-9 during the arrest. However, once he is cleared, he will likely be booked into the DeKalb County Jail.
