Police investigating after shots fired at South Cobb High School, district confirms

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating after shots were fired at a high school in Cobb County on Saturday night, the district confirmed. 

According to the school district, shots were fired during a community event at South Cobb High School.

The Georgia Middle School Athletic Association's online schedule shows that South Cobb's 8th-grade football game against Walton-Blue was scheduled for 7 p.m. at that location. 

Cobb County Police said that a suspect has been detained and that there was a report of an injury but that the extent of the injury is unknown. 

Police said the investigation is still in its preliminary phase, and additional information will be forthcoming.
