WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Warner Robins police this week went to two homes to check on whether the people there were OK, but instead found five dead bodies. Now, police say they're investigating how it happened and why at least three of those people took their own lives.
A suburb in Bonaire down on the 122 block is where the Warner Robins police went Monday for what they call a wellness check. Family members asked them to check on the people inside.
There, they found the bodies of Tiara Burke, Betty Burke, and Antwain Everett. They're calling the case a double murder and a suicide.
People in the neighborhood told 13WMAZ that Burke's relatives called in the wellness check.
They say Tiara Burke and Everett were a couple. Police say Everett shot the two women and then himself. They also say a family member told them the shooting happened in the kitchen.
The neighbors told us Everett seemed like a good guy and sometimes cut their grass.
Just six miles away and a couple hours later, police made another wellness check on Cohen Walker Drive. That’s where they found the bodies of Danny and Gretchen Elliott.
Now, investigators call it a double suicide. Police Lieutenant Eric Gossman says the couple had medical problems and that may have caused the suicides. He said the couple communicated with family members, but he wouldn't comment on what they told them. Police say the Elliotts died from gunshot wounds.
Houston County Coroner James Williams says the bodies of all five victims were sent to the GBI Wednesday for autopsies.
