MACON, Ga. — A Florida man will spend up to five years in prison after admitting stealing mail and checks from Former Major League Baseball pitcher Kevin Brown's Macon mailbox in June 2018.
According to a news release from the US Attorney's Office, 31-year-old Jeremy Brown pleaded guilty to one count of mail theft Tuesday.
In 2018, ex-MLB pitcher Kevin Brown saw on his home security camera that someone was stealing his mail. According to US Attorney Charles Peeler, Brown parked his car in a neighbor's driveway and waited for the thieves to return. When they did, Peeler said Kevin Brown blocked the road and held Jeremy Brown and his 15-year-old brother at gunpoint until police arrived.
Peeler says Jeremy Brown, who is not related to the pitcher, admitted stealing three checks totaling more than $17,000.
Jeremy Brown faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 1.
