CHEROKEE COUNTY, N.C. — The man who allegedly kidnapped a Cherokee County, North Carolina woman has been arrested in north Georgia.
According to a Facebook post update from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina, Hedden was arrested in Union County in Georgia.
Hedden allegedly kidnapped the woman after she offered to give him and another woman a ride on Thursday.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina said Jordan Hedden and another woman were hitchhiking when a resident stopped to give the two a ride. That's when deputies said the two forced the driver into the back seat and took over the car.
The sheriff's office said Hedden is considered armed and dangerous; if spotted, call 911 and do not make contact. According to deputies, Hedden entered a Tennessee home on Dec. 2 with a gun, and after the weapon was taken, he hitchhiked to Georgia.
"Hedden is believed to be involved in criminal activity and is believed to pose an immediate threat to public safety," the office said in a post on Facebook.
Authorities said the woman involved with Hedden was arrested but did not give an update on the kidnapped driver.
Deputies released a photo of Hedden; he's described as being 5 feet and 8 inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds. Deputies said he has green eyes and red hair and could be traveling on foot or bicycle.
