MACON, Ga. — Two men were arrested and charged with murder Thursday in a fatal shooting and car crash, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
30-year-old Kendarrious Cone was arrested in the death of Cortavius Ates, 25, who was found shot in an overturned car, according to the sheriff's and coroner's office.
The shooting happened on Saturday near the intersection of Jeffersonville Road and Roseview Street.
Later that night, Marion Curry was also arrested in the shooting death of Ates, a second press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said.
He was arrested at a residence in the 2300 block of Ollie Drive and was eventually charged with criminal street gang activity, aggravated assault and murder, the sheriff's office said.
The coroner's office told 13WMAZ that witnesses reported a shooting between two cars at around 5 p.m. Later, Ates was pronounced dead just before 6:30 p.m. after being shot.
Cone was arrested in Twiggs County and then taken to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office Investigations Headquarters, the press release said. They say Cone was then taken to the Bibb County jail.
Cone is charged with murder, aggravated assault and conspiracy to distribute marijuana, according to the press release.
The sheriff's office says the shooting is still under investigation.
