HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. — A Pulaski County hospital was hit by an attempted ransomware attack, which officials learned about Thursday morning.
Anna Adams, chief government relations officer for the Georgia Hospital Association, confirms the cyberattack at Taylor Regional Hospital.
She says that the hospital is still up and running but they are working on paper charts instead.
After an investigation, Adams says that there was "no evidence" that any data was actually accessed, and the cyberattack was just an attempted data breach.
She says that the officials at Taylor Regional are working with law enforcement and their cybersecurity insurance company to get things back on track.
Once they noticed the cyberattack, Adams says they were able to isolate the problem and get it under control.
She says the hospital had protocols in place that allowed them to quickly respond to the data breach.
Adams says there is no indication that patient records were exposed in the hack, but the investigation is still on-going.
Adams says the hospital will be releasing additional information soon once they are cleared to do so.
