GBI investigating after man injured by PIT maneuver after shooting at Laurens, Treutlen deputies

The man is still in the hospital after being injured in the crash.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Georgia — A 32-year-old man is in the hospital after a shooting at a pair of deputies during a chase that ended with a PIT maneuver, according to the GBI.

Kadeem Amir Wicker, of Wrightsville, was pulled over around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday by a Laurens County deputy for driving recklessly on I-16. 

As the deputy walked up to the car, Wicker drove off. The deputy began chasing him. Treutlen County deputies joined in the pursuit after the chase crossed the county line. 

During the chase, Wicker shot at the deputies from his car. The Treutlen County deputy used a PIT maneuver in Montgomery County, ending the chase. 

Wicker was injured in the crash and is still recovering in the hospital. Police found a firearm and drugs at the scene. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.

 This investigation is active and ongoing.  It will be given to the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office once it is completed.
