Four arrested, 26 pounds of meth, other drugs and guns seized in multi-agency operation

More than 10 law enforcement agencies worked on a joint operation that led to the arrest of four Macon men.

MACON, Ga. — Four people were arrested in a multi-agency operation on Tuesday just after 9 a.m. and more than $25,000, 26 pounds of meth, other drugs and guns were found during the search of several homes in Macon, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies and agents searched homes on Pio Nono Avenue, Glendale Avenue, Worsham Avenue, Forsyth Road, Ward Street, Roosevelt Avenue, Brigham Street and Lowe Court. 

Four people were arrested during the searches. More than $25,000 in cash, 12,000 grams of Meth, 154 grams of Ecstasy, 87 grams of Marijuana and four guns were also found during the operation. 

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office did confirm that no one was arrested on Glendale Avenue where a warrant was served at a home behind a tire shop and a Bojangles Chicken.

75-year-old Melvin Grady Bates was arrested and charged with two counts of Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution, or Sale of Marijuana, and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. He is currently being held on an $11,200 bond. 

42-year-old Julian Derwayne Coker was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, Illegal Drugs, Marijuana, or Methamphetamine, and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. He is being held without bond.

 50-year-old Harry Lee Hopkins Jr. was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. He is being held without bond. 

44-year-old Jackie Edward Powell was arrested and charged with two counts of Receipt, Possession, or Transfer of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Probation Violation. He is being held without bond.
