FORT VALLEY, Ga. — The woman at the center of a prostitution scandal at Fort Valley State University had pleaded guilty and been sentenced for her crimes.
According to a news release, Alecia Johnson, 49, pleaded guilty to six counts of prostitution Monday in Peach County as part of a plea agreement.
She was then sentenced to five years of probation, a $1,000 fine and 180 days of house arrest.
Her plea agreement depends on her testimony in the trial of any or all six other co-defendants indicted in the scandal, which include a Crisp County commissioner and a Houston County assistant principal.
Johnson was arrested in Oct. 2018 after an investigation by the GBI and District Attorney David Cooke’s office.
She was the executive assistant to the university’s president at the time the crimes took place.
