MACON, Ga. — Early Tuesday morning, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at West Club apartments at 159 Steven Drive in west Macon. When deputies arrived, they found 16-year-old Marcelles Williams dead outside of one of the apartment complexes.
Jah'Ryon Willis and Tyshoun Williams, both 18, were pronounced dead at Atrium Health Navicent. A 14-year-old was shot in the back but survived and was released later that day.
Kristen Baugh used to teach fifth grade at Union Elementary School. She said the 16-year-old was a good student.
"He had the biggest smile, and when he smiled, it could brighten up a room," Baugh said.
Baugh told 13WMAZ Williams would come to visit her after he was no longer in his class. She says she can't believe he is gone.
"My first reaction was, 'No. No, it's not him.' Then, I was just kind of shocked. Then I looked up the news story and confirmed that it was my former student," Baugh said.
Dominique Johnson with Cure Violence Macon says they plan to continue to keep working to make Macon safe for all youth.
"As we come in, boots on the ground, the community will come together, and wrap together as well," Johnson said.
Baugh says she wishes she could help, but knows her former student was a hard worker.
"When I think about him, I saw a bright future. He was trying very hard to move himself forward," Baugh said.
All four teenagers were students at Westside High School in Macon.
The homicide total in Macon is now at 65.
