Five shot, two dead after shooting in Americus

Americus Police, Sumter County Sheriff and the GBI are investigating a shooting that left 2 people dead and three injured.

Five people were shot, two of them fatally during a shootout early Tuesday morning in Americus.

According to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a shooting incident occurred at a home on Price Street in Americus.

32-year-old Marcus Harper and 36-year-old Martin Thames of Columbus both died during the shooting.

40-year-old Jermaine Taylor from Columbus, 31-year-old Chris Lembrick and 31-year-old Morrice Williams, both of Americus, were all injured.

Taylor was in critical condition at the Medical Center, Navicent Health Tuesday evening.

Lembrick and Williams were both treated and released from a local hospital in Americus.

The GBI is assisting Americus Police and the Sumter County Sheriff's office with the investigation.
