TREUTLEN COUNTY, Ga. — A Father's Day weekend boat ride turned deadly for a Laurens County family.
According to Treutlen County Coroner Gregg Higgs, the boat the family was driving hit a sandbar Saturday and threw three kids overboard.
It happened near the Dead Boat Landing, a creek that runs off the Oconee River in Treutlen County west of Soperton.
Higgs said that 12-year-old Colton Foskey of East Dublin died in the accident while his dad was driving the boat.
The Coroner's office has requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
