Houston DA wants to revoke bond for Gary Lee

Warner Robins' development director allegedly violated his bond and the district attorney wants to send him to jail

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Houston County’s district attorney wants to revoke bond for Warner Robins development director Gary Lee and send him to jail.

In a motion filed last month in superior court, DA George Hartwig claimed that Lee violated his bond.

In March, a Houston grand jury indicted Lee on two counts of falsely reporting a crime and one count of making a false statement.

After he was arrested, his bond order said Lee could not have any contact with city employee Kimberly Black.

But Hartwig's motion says Lee has violated his bond by having contact with Black and discussing "non-essential matters." Lee is Black's supervisor.

Hartwig wrote that he wants to hold Lee in custody until his trial, to prevent him from committing further crime and tampering with witnesses.

Meanwhile, Lee's lawyers have filed their own motion in the case, asking a Houston County judge to modify his bond.

His motion says Lee and city officials have tried to reduce contact between the two, but that some contact can't be avoided.

The charges against Lee are non-violent, the motion says, and both he and Black are "professionals" who don't need to be separated.

The bond-revocation hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday in Houston County Superior Court.

Mayor Randy Toms says he and other city officials have gotten subpoenas for that hearing.

Black has also filed a federal lawsuit against Lee and the city, saying she's being punished for talking to FBI and GBI agents about city matters.

Her lawsuit is still pending in U.S. District Court in Macon.
