MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested three people for allegedly having weapons and drugs near a school Tuesday.
It happened just before 3 p.m. near the Monroe County Achievement Center on Highway 41.
Drug investigators made a traffic stop on a car with three people inside who went to pick up a student from the school.
The sheriff's office says investigators smelled marijuana from the car and searched the vehicle. They found two guns, one of which was stolen from out of state, and an AR-15.
The driver, a 22-year-old, and the two passengers, a 19-year-old and 17-year-old, are being held in the Monroe County jail.
They face charges including carrying weapons and possession of controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school safety zone.
