WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Monday night was a violent one in the City of Warner Robins. It left three people injured and one man dead.
"Things like this are definitely not the norm," says Interim Assistant Police Chief Wayne Fisher.
The first event started on Hartley Avenue.
"6:18 p.m., units responded to 1319 Hartley Avenue, referenced to a call of shots having been fired," says Fisher.
He says it is believed that Tyjae Rae'kwon Morgan approached Stacy Harvey at the home. That led to an argument, and witnesses say they pulled out guns and exchanged gunfire
Morgan was shot in his chest and leg and drove himself to Houston Healthcare. Harvey was struck in the head, and drove off, but didn't make it far.
"On Jones Place and Pleasant Hill, he was involved in a vehicle collision he experienced," says Fisher.
Two hours later, they got calls about a domestic dispute. They say the altercation happened at a storage unit facility on Green Street.
"The couple who had been engaged in a relationship for over 13 years had got into a verbal altercation that turned physical," says Fisher.
Police say the couple has a history of domestic violence. Fisher says the woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend with scissors in self-defense.
"She transported him to Houston Medical Center at which point he succumbed to cardiac arrest," adds Fisher.
He says while this was a lot in one night the community has no need to worry.
"These weren't random or spontaneous crimes, that had parties that had no affiliation with the activities," Fisher says.
He says the parties knew each other, which is typical for types of crimes they seen in the city.
However, he says the night was taxing for the department, as they only had eight people on staff. However he says they handled each situation well.
"As a department we'll work as one, but it is very challenging when you have numbers that low," he says.
The last case happened at on Sullivan Road, a 15-year-old was shot in the stomach in his yard. The Houston County Sheriff's Office responded to this call.
All shooting victims are listed in stable condition, and each case is still under investigation.
Fisher says an autopsy is scheduled for the stab victim.
Chief Fisher adds that if you believe you are a victim of domestic violence, you can call Warner Robins Police for for help on getting connected to helpful resources. You can call them at 478-302-5378.
