A Baldwin County woman who was found dead in her home Wednesday afternoon died from multiple stab wounds.

That's according to Baldwin Coroner John Gonzales. Gonzales says Sandra- Brantley Barrett's death was ruled a homicide. When we asked how many stab wounds, Gonzales said, "Many, many, many."

Sheriff Bill Massee says the autopsy confirmed what investigators thought happened, "It was a very violent crime scene," said Massee

Sheriff Bill Massee says 76-year-old Brantley - Barrett was found dead in her kitchen. It happened at her Lake Sinclair home on Bill Johnson Road in Baldwin County.

Massee says the woman's son, 55-year-old Steven Barrett, was taken to jail Thursday morning for violating his probation. Barrett violated his probation because he was not supposed to be at the home because of a restraining order, Massee said.

Massee said Barrett is a suspect in his mother's homicide.

Investigators and a dive team were at the home Thursday morning searching parts of Lake Sinclair for evidence.
