MACON, Ga. — Devin Fincher was 22 years old when he was killed at a Sunoco gas station in Macon. His mother, Amy Fincher, said the loss of her son is so painful because she misses his big heart.
She remembers the number of times he brought animals home he wanted to foster.
"Wild pig, alligator that latched onto his ear on the way home, possum in a bucket, snakes. He's brought every animal in the world home," Amy said.
Amy said while life could be unpredictable and chaotic with her son, she admits after losing him, the loss of the chaos is something she would never ask for.
"We argued. Me and him argued, but I would give anything to have that chaos back in my life," Amy said.
Amy said she felt Devin's impact on the community during his memorial service.
"It was the biggest turnout. Oh gosh, there was so many people there and so many different types of people. You know everybody loved Devin my heart was full that day," Amy said.
She wants justice for her son. Right now Joseph Joyner is in custody charged with aggravated assault and murder.
However, Amy believes everyone who was at the scene has not been questioned by the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. She says she feels ignored.
"I should be mourning the loss of my son. I should be grieving right now but I can't even grieve because my mind's consumed with all the wrong things that they're doing," Amy said.
Amy also said she's tired of hearing the surveillance video of her son's death is on social media.
"My cousin from Arkansas called me and told me about the video. He said I have to talk to you have you seen this video? I said I've heard about it. He said please don't watch it. Please don't watch it," Amy said.
Amy said life without her son is difficult, but getting him justice would make it a little bit easier.
Joyner was granted bond by the Bibb County Superior Court Nov. 6. According to court documents his bond was set at $75,000.
