Two years after grandson's shooting death, Macon grandmother keeps his good-will going

Debbie Silba Clark says she doesn't know who's responsible for her grandson Ormondo's death, but she's determined to keep his name — and memory — alive.

MACON, Ga. — Two years after someone shot Ormondo Cortez Clark on Ibex Street in Macon, his family is still searching for answers; but they're determined to crack the case.

Every few months, Clark's family hosts an event to keep his memory alive and his name on people's lips. Each event has an aspect that ties back to something important to the man most people called "Tez."

"I never seen that kid in the 28 years he walked this Earth with a bad look on his face," his grandmother, Debbie Silba Clark, said.

If you ask Silba Clark, she'll say remembering him is a year-round commitment.

"March 11 was his birthday. We had a big birthday party. And then we celebrate May 16 with a balloon release, and hot dogs and cupcakes for the kids because he loved kids," she said.

Cortez Clark was always quick to crack a joke or play around, she said. He didn't just love the kids in his family. Tez loved all of them.

"At Christmastime, he'd buy jackets and hand them out to the kids. At Halloween, he'd pay the person in the store to give them all a candy bar," Silba Clark said.

Now, two years after his death, Silba Clark is committed to keeping her grandson's good-will going.

"I'm trying to ask for donations of bookbags and school supplies so we can have, at the end of the summer, a bookbag party up here in the park," she said.

Silba Clark isn't sure who took her grandson's life, but she says she won't rest until she finds out who did. Until then, she'll do everything she can to make sure people know they're living in "Tez World."

"Tez... World... and we're all just living in it," she explained last year.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says they have no new updates on Cortez Clark's case. Silba Clark says there's a $2,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
