Balloons released for Bibb murder victim

Those who knew Crystal Walker gathered to celebrate the woman they say loved to cook and celebrate holidays.

Police continue to search for a man wanted in connection with Macon's 19th homicide this weekend.

Meanwhile the people who loved Crystal Walker gathered today to remember her life.

They say she loved to cook and celebrate holidays.

It's what made a Labor Day memorial that much more poignant.

My baby didn't have to die like this. She didn't deserve to die like this," Angela Walker, Crystal's mother said.

Despite the somber mood, her sister, Rosalyn Handson, says the 35-year-old was "very loving, very kind, very energetic."

But it was hard not to focus on her death, especially since it comes on the heels of another loss.

"We just had to bury her father last month as well," said Handson.

Walker says she knew something was wrong with her daughter before she got the news.

"I just kept trying to call her, call her, call her. I didn't get a text. Normally when she miss my call, she calls right back. I didn't get any of that," she said.

Athough she's gone, The people who gathered in her memory Monday said they got the feeling she was at least watching, a feeling they hope will allow them to move on without her.

The Bibb County Sheriff's office isn't saying how Walker died.

But they're looking for the man she was in a relationship with. That's 39-year-old Willis Deterra Roberts. He's described as a 5'11" man, weighing around 190 lbs with brown eyes, a low haircut, beard and goatee.

This is the 19th homicide in Macon this year and the fourth homicide in the past week.
