No matter where you live in central Georgia, you can always find something here in Macon. From music, art, and the county's natural wonders. Here are six things you can do in Macon without the high price tag.
Not only is the park free, but you can also walk the almost eight-mile trail and visit the museum. They even have a free movie showing to watch inside the museum that talks about the history of the first natives here in Macon.
You don't have to buy anything, but there are unique shops and restaurants you can stop by and visit. This art district also has garden essentials and fine art collections.
This self-guided tour app has two available tours focusing on music and Black history in downtown Macon. Their newest one will be available during the start of the Cherry Blossom Festival. You can see all the historic music sites and take a stroll downtown. The app is free, and you don't need to spend a lot on gas because you only have to walk to do the trail. If walking isn't your style, Visit Macon offers van tours during February for their Black History Month trail.
Do you have some sports fans in your family, or are you looking for something the family can enjoy indoors? This place has over 400 Georgia sports inductees you can learn about. An adult ticket will cost you $8 and $3.50 for anyone under 16.
It's located on Cotton Avenue, the hub for Black businesses during the Jim Crow era. It's locally owned, and you'll find rare reads inside and outside the store.
You can enjoy the different trails, canoe or kayak on the river, let the kids play on the playground, or get a group of friends to picnic on the large lawn. It doesn't cost but can become busy during the warmer months. It's a popular destination in Macon, and you can come up with a fun family activity to do.
