More than a quarter-million cars on the road can suddenly lose power while driving and potentially cause crashes.

According to a Dec. 12 Consumer Reports article, Subaru is recalling several models because of the problem -- which involves the engine’s crankcase ventilation valve.

Basically, the faulty part can allow oil to get into places where it’s not supposed to be.

CBS Pittsburgh reports the models affected by the recall are:

  • 2018 Crosstrek SUVs
  • 2017 – 2018 Impreza hatchbacks
  • 2017 – 2018 Impreza sedans
  • 2019 Forester SUVs
  • 2019 Ascent SUVs
  • Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid SUVs

You can find out if your car or SUV is affected by entering your VIN on Subaru’s recall website.
