Welcome to Georgia! WaWa announces opening date for Peach State's first location

The gas station chain has an ambitious strategy for the Peach State.
The Philadelphia-based company won based on a survey of almost 6,000 customers.

The famous Philedlphia-based gas station chain, WaWa, has announced they'll open their doors in Georgia for the first time in just a few weeks.

The gas station —  known for its sandwiches and hoagies — is set to open up shop in Bainbridge near the Florida line on Nov. 14.

The WaWa location will open at 8 a.m. and they plan a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 9 a.m., marking their first location in the Peach State. It's located at 1401 Tallahassee Highway.

However, the company says the Bainbridge location will not be their last, outlining an aggressive growth strategy in Georgia over the next five to eight years.

They have multiple locations in the works and under contract: Brunswick, Jesup, Hinesville, Pooler, Waycross, Albany and Tifton.

They didn't have any locations in Central Georgia announced, but many are roughly an hour or so drive from the southern parts of Central Georgia.

However, WaWa says they plan to have at least 26 locations in Georgia within at least eight years and they plan to open three to four stores per year.  With it, they expect to invest $7.5 Million in each area's local economy, creating 900 long-term jobs with their expansion.

What is a WaWa

Like Quik-Trip and Buc-ee's, WaWa is a gas station that does more than just give you a spot to fill up your tank.

According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, WaWa was named the best convenience store chain in the U.S. based on customer satisfaction. They also ranked higher than fast food in terms of food quality.

So when you're filling up your tank, you can come into the store and grab a snack, drink and a sandwich for all your road trip needs.
