MACON, Ga. — Since 1976, The Creative Alternative has helped Central Georgians get in touch with their artistic side. The studio provides fun and engaging art and music classes at its Ingleside location.
"It's just divine," says Creative Alternative director Brooks Dantzler. "I needed a space like this when I was a kid and there's a lot of other kids who do, too."
Dantzler grew up in Macon and has watched The Creative Alternative grow over time along with Macon's art scene.
The creative space offers a wide range of classes that teach students how to create through painting, sculpture, and music.
"We wanna make sure that everybody that comes out of here, whether they become an artist or not, understand the elements and principles of art," says Dantzler.
In the decades that The Creative Alternative has been open, Dantzler has seen thousands of students come through her doors.
"It's really fun seeing the light bulb come on when somebody gets a concept," says Dantzler.
With most schools in Central Georgia breaking for summer vacation, The Creative Alternative is getting ready to start their summer camps.
"We try to be a one-stop shop for art activities," says Dantzler. "We have a good time here."
The Creative Alternative's first camp begins June 3rd. To learn more or sign up for a class, call 478-474-8457 or visit their Facebook page.
