Trooper Eugene Jones was working his regular shift Wednesday night when he was patrolling Highway 347.

Jones saw a driver speeding at 80 mph and pulled her over. That driver was Tristie Burge.

Burge was in a hurry to get her 8-month-old baby, Wyatt, to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.

But instead of getting a ticket, Jones gave her a hand.

"I asked, 'Why don't we get you and ambulance to get you there a little sooner?'" Jones said.

Wyatt was in the back seat. He suffers from an rare condition that affects his muscles and bladder.

Wyatt was checked out by eight different doctors, but on Wednesday night, he ran into his highway hero.

Jones didn't leave Wyatt's sight until an ambulance came to pick him and his mother up, where the two were able to get to the hospital much quicker.

"Thank you once again for what you do and what you did for Wyatt," Burge said on Facetime.

After spending a couple of nights in the hospital, Wyatt was able to go home on Saturday.
