Santa's reindeer are well taken care of, but there is a way you can help shelter animals in Central Georgia.
The Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare group says their holiday wish list includes things you might expect and some things you don't.
Paige Mullis works in the kennels at the shelter.
"I think people know we need things but they don't necessarily know what we need," she said.
Macon-Bibb County animal welfare needs the stuff you would normally expect for a shelter like toys, blankets and treats.
"People bring in blankets and rags that they don't use anymore but we always are in need of those things," Paige said with a smile.
Food is a constant need when you've got over a hundred animals to take care of every day.
They use Eukanuba small bites but any food you bring in will go to a good cause.
"We take donations of any dog food because we have a donation community assistance program where we will take all the donated dog and cat food and help the community feeding their own animals," she said.
Dogs look for distractions to keep them entertained, That's why Paige says they need simple and inexpensive carabiners.
"So what we would do with this is we would take it and clip it on to the bucket on the gate and that way when they go to tilt it over it will keep it from spilling out and they don't have to have their water bucket filled five times a day and they don't have to be wet all day," she explained.
And you might want to show some love for cats.
"The cats need toys they love toys they like treats and actually little cardboard boxes that they could play in would also be cool," Paige said.
Of course every four legged creature wants a home for Christmas and they're all cute, but adopting isn't for everyone.
"You never want to adopt an animal for a Christmas present or a birthday present or anything like that because you're not positive the person may not want it," she warned.
The shelter is open through Saturday to make your holiday donations, but closed Christmas Eve and Christmas.
The Macon-Bibb Animal welfare shelter is located at 4214 Fulton Mill Rd. in west Bibb County.
