In Liberty Park, a little box sits full of books, ready for someone to crack open the pages to each story inside.
It's a Little Free Library, created by a Jones County Girl Scout troop as a service project.
"It gives kids a chance... they may not have books at home to read, so it gives kids a chance to read," said one Girl Scout, Chole McMillan.
Another troop member, Amarah Monds, is hopeful the community will use the library.
"A lot of people come to the park, so maybe they'll stop by to look at the books and see they want to read some," Monds said.
The girls say they wanted to give the community easy and free access to books, while also sharing their love for reading.
McMillan says she loves Harry Potter, and Monds' favorites are mystery books.
"Our whole troop likes reading so we decided to do something with books," McMillan said.
People of all ages can use the library. You bring books out to the box with you, then trade them for books inside.
The girls filled the library with 30 books to start. As long as you bring a book to exchange before taking one, the library stays fully stocked.
There is a book for everyone in this box.
"There's a lot of different age groups that we have. You can bring like cook books, or just chapter books, picture, any kind of books," said McMillan.
The Jones County Literacy Alliance partnered with them to keep the library full. Local families have helped with donations as well.
"A couple people came out here and took a book, and they left a book so it was pretty cool," Monds said.
The scouts say the more donations they get, the more books for people to enjoy.
The Little Free Library is located in Liberty Park off Upper River Road in Jones County.
