'A way that makes it work': Moms Club of Warner Robins adds toys to pantry box for the holidays

Anyone is welcome to take the box or donate. You can find the box in front of the Between Friends Coffee Shop on Highway 96 in Warner Robins.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — As many parents prepare for Christmas and a visit from Santa, some may have it a little harder this holiday season. That's why a Warner Robins moms club is doing its part to help stuff some stockings.

"I think at this time of year, people are looking for those ways to make it work and this is a way that makes it work," Club President Sara Fowler said.

The Moms Club of Warner Robins, Georgia understands that sometimes a helping hand can go a long way, especially during the holidays.

Sara Fowler joined the club in 2019, and since then, has been working to bridge the gap in what she calls her "village" of moms.

"Moms need a community. We used to have villages and would help each other out, but life has gotten to where it’s really easy to feel like an island,” she said.

Moms meet several times a month doing social events and fundraising, also filling up one of their biggest projects-- their community pantry box. It's stocked with food, supplies and now toys -so no child has to go without this Christmas.

"It’s not just those who might not have the income, it could be the person who had this grand idea for Christmas and then their heater broke. You know, it’s for everybody," she explained.

Kaitlyn Schwoob says the giving is year-round.

"This month is our third-year anniversary with the pantry, it was about this week when we put it in, and the motto is, 'Take what you need and give what you can so it benefits the whole community,'" the administrative vice president said.

The women work completely off donations and their love for helping other moms.

"We obviously have a lot of moms, so we have a lot of toys and so we just don't want those things to go to waste. We know that it’s hard for anyone no matter what their stance is. We know it’s nice to have a little helping hand, maybe an extra toy here or there," Schwoob said.

If you'd like to donate, you can drop off at the box in front of Between Friends Coffee on Highway 96 in Warner Robins. They also have boxes in front of we care heating and air, and on commercial circle. For more mom events, and how to join the Moms Club, visit their Facebook page.
