Here's the good news you may have missed in our area last week

1. Central Georgia man recognized by President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump recognized a Central Georgia man this month. Edward Timley received the President's Volunteer Service Award. 

2. 'People haven't forgotten that they exist:' Macon group pays to do laundry for 12 families

People who don't have easy access to laundry facilities can find it difficult to wash and dry clothes for themselves and their children. Friday, some folks gathered to wash clothes for others and it didn't cost those families a dime. 

3. Central Georgia woman celebrates milestone 106th birthday

Adella McCrary turns 106 years old this weekend and has spent her time on Earth making a lasting impact on her community 

4. Museum of Aviation honors Central Georgia WWII veterans

In honor of D-Day, the Warner Robins Heritage Society celebrated World War II veterans across Central Georgia 

5. Bibb County Schools offering free lunch and breakfast this summer

Students may be out of school, but the Bibb County School District still wants to make sure kids eat well over the summer. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School is one of many schools offering free lunches for students this summer.

6. Macon job fair featuring Amazon draws thousands

People were in a line wrapped around the Anderson Conference Center parking lot hours before the fair even started. Each one of them was trying to claim opportunities to work for some of the nation's biggest companies. 

7. Bibb County turns blight into new park

Just in time for summer, a new park is opening soon off of Riverside Drive in Macon's Pleasant Hill community. 13WMAZ spoke with neighbors and the county to learn what you can expect to see in the coming weeks.

8. 'It felt like putting on a glove:' retired Air Force pilot reunites with plane

Nick Frasca had a happy reunion with one of his former planes Monday morning. The retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel was happy to find out the F-111 Aardvark jet was on display at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins.

A 25-year-old's life was spared when a Macon woman threw him a life jacket and park rangers dragged him to shore 

10. Bonaire Middle School's chorus sings at Braves game

Bonaire Middle School's chorus sang the national anthem Saturday night for the Braves game in SunTrust Park. 

11. Ex-NFL player's 'Teach a Child to Fish' program comes to Macon

Kendall Newson is a retired wide receiver from the Miami Dolphins who traded his cleats for a fishing rod to instill his new passion into young kids.

12. Georgia Peach Festival serves up world's largest peach cobbler

This weekend is the 33rd annual Georgia Peach Festival, and despite the spotty rain, people still came out for the music, food, and, of course, peaches.
