Virginia girl scout brings hundreds of books to children with cancer to read

11-year-old Emma Fischer hosted a book drive for Inova Cares for Children.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Our mission here at WUSA9 is to inform you about stories that inspire and make an impact.

We have been following one little girl in Virginia as she makes sure young hospital patients have something to do while they are receiving treatment, and we have a great Get Uplifted update.

11-year-old Emma Fischer of Fairfax County is a girl scout who recently advanced to the cadette level.

Emma was looking for a way to help our community. She decided to have a book drive to benefit kids at Inova Cares for Children.

She collected a whopping 650 books and she recently made the delivery to the hospital.

Emma has certainly made a difference and brightened the days of other children going through a tough time.

We want to share things that uplift you! If you have something you'd like to share, email us at GetUplifted@wusa9.com or contact Allison Seymour on X, Facebook and Instagram.
