MACON, Ga. — The second annual Great Macon Baking Week has come and gone.
While the full results aren't out just yet, thanks to two bakery's posts on Facebook, the first and second place finishers of the baking competition have been announced.
Layers announced on Facebook that they took first place in the competition for the second year in a row.
"Ahh!! We won! The first place winner of The Great Macon Baking Week," they said in the post. "Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to come by and try our Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Cake and vote!! You guys are the reason we work so hard and we’re grateful for all of you!!"
Their Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Cake took the top spot a year after their White Velvet Cake won the year prior. They're two time winners and the only restaurant, so far, to take first in the annual baking competition.
It wasn't all a repeat of 2023.
Sweet Eleanor's, who participated for the first time in the competition, announced on Facebook that they placed second.
"Thank you to each and every one of you who voted for us, came by and spoke with us, and, most importantly, tried our Southern Blackberry Peach Biscuit Pudding," they said in the post. "Congrats to Layers on winning First Place and to all of the amazing bakers who poured their hearts and souls into their dishes this week."
Their Southern Blackberry Peach Biscuit Pudding beat out 14 other bakeries, including last year's second place finisher Loom's.
Both bakeries shouted out each other, with Layers also shouting out Natalia's for a great performance, who may have taken third, but nothing has been announced. Layers also thanked Visit Macon for putting the event on.
"We are humbled and grateful to be chosen out of so many worthy deserts," they said in the post. "Thank you!!!"
The full results have yet to be announced. 13WMAZ will update this story when more information becomes available.
