Burger Bulletin Board: The best burgers inside and outside of Warner Robins

A Facebook group came together to discuss the best burgers in Warner Robins. We at 13WMAZ brought their answers together for a complete list

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Recently, Warner Robins natives came together in the Facebook group Robins To-Go to discuss the best burger places in the city and around Central Georgia.

While certain restaurants like Chilis and Five Guys earned several votes,  other local restaurants earned even more.

We at 13WMAZ took the responses and roughly ranked each restaurant based on the amount of comments.

Here are the results:

1. Black Barley Kitchen & Taphouse

It was almost too close to tell between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.

Black Barley, located on SR 98 in Kathleen, was raved about for its wide variety of burgers.

One user raved about “The Big Dill” burger, which has beer cheese, pickles, fried pickles and a creamy garlic dill sauce. Another user said they love the “Aloha” burger that comes with pineapple, pork and an “aloha sauce.”

Other unique standouts include their “Black-n-Bleu” burger with blue cheese crumble, their “Cheezy Boi” burger, with four different types of cheese or their “Blackberry BBQ” burger with ghost pepper jack cheese and their house-made blackberry barbeque sauce.

2. Big Picture Burgers

The movie-themed restaurant also located on SR 96 in Kathleen was practically even with Black Barley in terms of fans on that Facebook page.

The restaurant allows people to customize a burger to their liking or order one of their featured classics.

They have burgers named after movies including “Casablanca,” a burger with blue cheese crumbles and grilled mushrooms, “Lord of the Rings,” a burger with both grilled and fried onion rings and “Jaws,” which has classic burger toppings, but with double cheddar cheese and Bacon.

One user specifically recommended pairing a burger with their psycho fries, which are topped with grilled onions, jalapenos, bacon and spicy pimento cheese.

3. Tap & Pour

Similar to the first two selections, Tap & Pour was nearly tied with the fourth restaurant on the list.

The restaurant, located on Moody Road, offers unique burgers centered around different cheeses, specifically pimiento, jack, blue and swiss.

They also offer a backyard burger where you can choose your cheese from one of the four, or a smash burger with American cheese.

4. Props Steak and Seafood

The restaurant located on South Houston Lake Road was practically tied with Tap & Pour.

Props offers several different burgers with a variety of toppings. One user noted how they love how the burgers are made with chuck, brisket and sirloin, giving them a unique flavor and texture.

From the “Texas Burger” which is “stacked tall” with barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, bacon and an onion ring, to a plant-based “Im-Props-Ible Burger,” which is made with an impossible meat patty, or the unique “Elvis Burger,” which comes topped with peanut butter, bacon and two fried bananas, they have a wide selection of delicious burgers.

5. Steak-Out

Steak Out, while known for its steaks, got some love from commenters on their burgers.

The restaurant, located on Russell Parkway, doesn't have a wide variety of burgers. But commenters say they make up for the slim selection with how good they taste.

They do have a regular cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and bacon cheddar burger.

6. Walk-ons

The Louisiana-based restaurant located on SR 96 has a wide variety of different burger options.

They have a jalapeno jack burger with fried jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and a spicy mayo and a hickory burger, topped with barbeque sauce, cheddar bacon and, based on the photo on their website, six onion rings.

They also have a surf and turf melt with blackened shrimp, the burger patty, caramelized onions, pickled jalapenos, a Thousand Island sauce all on toasted bread. They also have a smoked gouda turkey burger, with smoked gouda, bacon, peppadew peppers and a spicy mayo.

7. Wild Wing Cafe

This chain with restaurants in eight different states and 11 locations in Georgia garnered solid reviews for its burgers.

While known for its wings, the restaurant with locations in Macon and Warner Robins has a few different burgers to choose from.

From its blue cheese basil burger, which is made with Italian marinade and is topped with bacon and bleu cheese, its mushroom swiss burger, which is topped with swiss and sauteed mushrooms or its “Big Beefy Burger,” which is two half-pound patties with swiss and cheddar cheese, four slices of bacon and Wild Wings “moo moo sauce” all on Texas Toast.

8. Sweet P’s

The Perry’s based restaurant offers a wide selection of food.

From fresh produce to breakfast to homemade ice cream, the place offers a little bit for everyone, including tasty burgers, according to Facebook users.

The restaurant offers a wide selection of different types of burgers, including ones that have jalapeno cheese. They offer their own Patty Melt, their own take on a “Black & Blue” burger and a few staples like “The Butter” and “The Big Sexy”

9. Two Guys & A Pie

The pizza place located in Bonaire earned a few rave reviews on their burgers and urged others to try them.

Their burgers aren’t the most bold, but earned plenty of praise. They have “The All American (Warhawk)” which is a basic burger, a simple cheese burger called “The Bear Burger” and “The Swiss Burger” which is a burger with sauteed mushroom and onions, swiss cheese and bacon.

Outside Warner Robins

The comments section included a few restaurants outside of Warner Robins. Take a look below:

1. The Grill

The Grill, located in Hawkinsville, received enough responses to be placed top five in the main list.

People said how, despite the drive, the restaurant had the best burgers.

They have several unique burgers, including the “Full Monte Burger,” which has a fried egg, bacon and pimento cheese, the “Philly Burger” which has Philly-style steam on top or you can try their “Big Cheese Burger” which has two grilled cheese sandwiches as buns.

2. The Rookery

The Macon-based chain has awards to its name. It was voted Best Burger in town and was featured in Garden and Gun’s “Guide to the South’s Best Burgers 2014.”

Listed under “headliners,” The Rookery has 12 different burgers and a burger of the month that rotates.

They offer classic burgers, including their rookery burger, which is double stacked with American cheese, sauteed onions, dill pickles, mustard and their signature Coca-Cola ketchup.

Some unique offerings are the “Walden Greenback Burger,” which has a fried green tomato, green onions, applewood smoked bacon, chevre cheese and a sun-dried tomato remoulade, or their “Jimmy Carter Burger,” which has peanut butter and applewood smoked bacon.

3. The Library Taphouse and Kitchen

The Library also got several votes as one of central Georgia’s best burger joints.

The restaurant has several burgers with its name fitting the library theme. “The Page Turner” is a double smash burger with their house-made bear sauce. “Study Jam” is a double smash burger with peanut butter and jam.

The Berenstain Bear Burger, which won Macon Burger Week in 2022, is a double smash burger with american cheese, brown sugar candied bacon, a fried onion ring, friend banana pepper and a “angry” twist on their bear sauce.

Gone but not forgotten: Mike’s Hot Dogs and Hamburgers

While the popular burger and hot dog restaurant has closed, it did not stop commentators from mentioning it.

People continued to rave about their “Gorilla Burgers” even after the restaurant closed its doors in June. Even after being closed, it’s still remembered as one of the best burger places in the International City.
