MACON, Ga. — A downtown favorite announced on Monday they would be shutting down after six years in business.
Macon Beer Company announced on Facebook that their final day of operation would be on Dec. 11 but maintaining normal business hours until then. The decision to close down according to the post is “rising inflation and supply chain issues.”
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to realize that we are not in a position to overcome those challenges,” the post said. “We regret we will no longer be able to serve you, hear your stories and enjoy making cherished memories with you.”
The closing will not impact events that have already been scheduled at their 2nd Street or Oglethorpe locations but they are not accepting any new inquiries.
Macon Beer Company recently finished as the top seller in the Macon Burger Week Competition and are just one year removed from winning back-to-back Macon Burger Week titles.
They invite everyone to back in for one final week of “great times, great drinks and great food.”
“We are so humbled that so many of you chose to become part of the Macon Beer Company family,” the statement said. “We wish our customers and all downtown businesses continued success with their future endeavors.”
This becomes the second downtown location to close in the last two months due to supply chain, worker shortage or inflation issues. Taste & See Coffee Shop & Gallery announced it was temporarily closing down through the end of the year, with hopes of returning in 2023.
At this time, the future of Macon Beer Company is unsure but they will cease all operations on Dec. 11.
