'Little Light at the end of the tunnel': Warner Robins coffee shop uplifts community through delicious drinks

We wanted to shed some 'light' on the coffee shop and its owner, Sophia Smith.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — For this Central Georgia Eats... we wanted to shed some 'light' on a special coffee shop in Warner Robins.

Little Light Coffee Co. has been around for a little while now, and has a strong customer base.

Their menu is wide, and they offer everything from drip coffee to matcha to specialty creations like their delicious Almond Joy latte.

They have a relaxing space for all to feel welcome, where you can sit with your favorite cup of joe and relax.

Owner Sophia Smith is very passionate about her business, and wants customers to feel like family when they visit.

"At the end of the day, the best part about this place that I think people come back to time and time again is just um...you're gonna be seen and valued and loved here," she said.

Smith discussed her passion for the shop, and how she dreamed of creating it back in college.

"When I was in college I started wanting to open up my own coffee shop. That was over a decade ago now." She said her husband was in the military, and it was hard to balance opening her business with being a military wife, because she never knew if they might have to relocate.

She says she was able to make it happen with hard work and drive.

"I never wanted to look back and be bitter about any aspect of my life, and so realizing that dream was super fulfilling for me," she continued.

She says the shop idea arose when she was searching for her identity, and wanted to be a part of something unique.

"I started exploring coffee shops because I needed something that wasn't attached to being a daughter, wasn't attached to being a student, you could just be. I fell in love with the whole atmosphere," she said.

When asked about why her store was named 'Little Light,' she said it was like fate led her to it.

"Little Light is kind of a weird happy accident...I wasn't in the best pace in college for this, and when I started exploring coffee shops it kind of pulled me out of a funk. And so for me now...it was like a little light at the end of the tunnel. But I didn't know that was the name at the time," she said.

Smith said it was solidified when she was driving one day and listening to music and a particular song caught her ear. She looked it up, and the song was called "Little Light." After that she bought the domain name, and knew that was the right name for her company.

She said that the shop has given her hope, and the philosophy behind it still rings true.

" When we first moved here we knew nobody...and built it up really from the ground up. But the core has always been the same - earning the word of mouth referrals and just really building a strong community and making sure everything is done really really well," she said.

If you want to try some treats yourself, you can find Little Light Coffee Co. at 4027 Watson Blvd, Suite 220, in Warner Robins. You can find their hours here, along with updates and drink specials
