What's Hoppin': Visit the Lazy Frog in Gray for some delicious dishes

The restaurant opened around 2 months ago and is already a big hit with the community.

GRAY, Ga. — A new restaurant in Gray already has folks lining up to get in. You can 'hop' on over there for a 'toad'-ally awesome time.

The Lazy Frog opened around 2 months ago and is already a big hit with the community.

They have a varied menu including dishes like frog legs, juicy steak and creamy mac and cheese, hamburger steak and sweet potatoes, and more.

You can satisfy your sweet tooth with fresh apple pie a la mode or keep it savory with classic home-cooked dishes.

When asked about some favorite picks on the menu, server Shana Travell says you can't go wrong with the chicken.

"I know we're a steakhouse, but the boys back there in the kitchen can whip up some chicken. We only have it on our menu twice, you can do the chicken basket or the grilled chicken entrée,  so it doesn't stand out like the rest of 'em, but it's the best thing I've had here," she said.

Manager Trina Hathaway says people also ask for the hamburger steak a lot.

"And they love it. That's what they ask for and that's what we give 'em," she said.

They also have lots of fun cocktails to pair with your food.

"The rainbow frog is a triple-decker, it's layered with grenadine and two others and it lays really well on top of each other and it's on the sweeter side," Travell said.

In addition to the rainbow frog, they have a spicy margarita with jalapeno-infused tequila, and others like the 'Princess and the Frog' and the 'Pond Water."

No matter your taste buds, there's something for everyone. The environment is very family-friendly - toads and tadpoles alike are welcome.

Travell says they want the place to feel like home.

"Everything is homemade... that's the whole vibe in here...we're going to grandma's to eat. Like its... you come as you are, and you're gonna feel welcome here and the servers are gonna treat you like family, you're gonna laugh," she said.

Travell and Hathaway say they couldn't do it without all the community support they've received.

"We have had more than our fair share of support. Everybody's come out not just once or twice but three times. I mean, we've both been here since day one, and I think my second week I had regulars," Travell said.

"They have supported us a whole lot, like you couldn't ask for a better place to live than in Jones County," Hathaway said.

If you want to dine at the Lazy Frog yourself, you can find them at 300 West Clinton Street in Gray.

They are open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

You can also keep up with menu specials and updates on the restaurant on their Facebook page.
