MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — If you're looking for some sweet treats in Central Georgia, one Milledgeville bakery has you covered.
Sweet P's Cupcakes and More is on North Columbia Street and has been serving the community for a little over six years.
They have a wide selection of baked goods every day and often sell out before noon.
“We sell out of everything every day, the only thing we do every day is a cinnamon roll cake, that’s a must-have every day," owner Nakeisha Jordan said.
She says folks love their cinnamon roll cake and creamy banana pudding and drive from all over just to visit the shop. Jordan says people also love to grab dozens of their cupcakes.
“I wanna make sure that you get the moistest cupcake that you can possibly get that is full of flavor," she said.
Jordan prioritizes the taste of her cupcakes over fancy decorations and packaging.
“I'm just more about what it tastes like. That’s my thing, giving you something different every day that’s not overly sweet," she said.
She says she's seen customers from as far as Kansas City who travel to try her treats.
"It's amazing to me that people drive as far as they drive, just to come see us," Jordan said.
She's been baking for friends and family since the 80s and likes to spread love through her food.
"It's just my thing, baking and cooking. I love to do that. I'm here because I wanna bring people something different like I said, you just stop in and get you something fresh, good, just different every day," Jordan said.
When asked what inspired her to open her business, Jordan said her husband played a big role.
“I just have a passion for baking, and most of the stuff I do I've tried at home first. My husband just kept encouraging me to open up a storefront. It was something he felt like people needed to try. He said it was nothing to keep at home and “you got a gift – use it” so that’s what I did," she said.
Her passion and talent shine through in every bite - you can tell her treats are made with lots of care.
“We don’t do a lot of advertising at all, I let the cupcakes talk for themselves," she said.
Her work is not just a work of art.
“I do what I do from the heart. I love what I do. We’ve gotten a lot of big-time offers to move our business but we won't do it because when you do stuff for the money, it's not going to work. It's not going to be as good as it would be from the heart," Jordan said.
